Amanda Brugel
(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal called"the West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere to the west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often called her birthplace. It is true that she was there for a brief duration. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. When she was a child she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her into this path. She was recommended by a teacher getting a part in the school's annual production. After a few auditions, she ended up as the main character for Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's been involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member in Season 1 of the series, and only seen occasionally.
